Sami Kärppä is a Finnish visual artist. He graduated as an illustrator in Ikaalinen College of Arts and Crafts in 2003. Since his graduation, he has been working as a visual artist, an illustrator, a museum caretaker, and an art gallery manager among other things. As an artist, he has taken part in several group and solo exhibitions in Finland.
Formerly he used to do more traditional art techniques as a painter but has since started to work solely on digital media. He mixes photography, digital painting, and collage. His works consist of twisted humour and elements of horror. You can find influences of old horror and science fiction book covers and illustrations, comics, 50’s pop culture, and silent films.
